Frequently Asked Questions
Somatic therapy is a body-centered therapeutic approach that recognizes the connection between mind and body. It involves using physical awareness and sensation to help release emotional and psychological blockages. Our approach integrates mindfulness, movement, and breathwork to facilitate healing.
While traditional talk therapy focuses on verbal communication, somatic therapy also addresses the body’s physical sensations to help release trapped emotions. This mind-body bottom-up approach can lead to deeper, more lasting healing, especially for trauma, anxiety, and stress-related conditions.
TVM™ is an innovative healing modality that blends polyvagal theory with somatic practices to regulate the nervous system, release stored trauma, and build emotional resilience. By working with the body’s natural rhythms and signals, TVM™ helps you tap into your innate capacity for healing and transformation.
TVM™ works by using specific techniques to activate the vagus nerve, the body’s primary pathway for the parasympathetic nervous system (the “rest and digest” system). This method focuses on the physiological and emotional integration of mind-body practices, helping to release stress, trauma, and emotional blockages stored in the body. Through guided exercises, we stimulate the vagus nerve to promote relaxation, increase emotional regulation, and support trauma recovery.
The benefits of TVM™ are wide-reaching and can include:
- Reduced anxiety and stress: By stimulating the vagus nerve, TVM™ activates the body’s natural relaxation response.
- Trauma healing: TVM™ helps release trauma that may be stored in the body, supporting deep emotional and physical recovery.
- Improved emotional regulation: TVM™ supports a balanced nervous system, making it easier to manage intense emotions.
- Enhanced overall well-being: Regular practice can promote a deeper sense of calm, clarity, and resilience.
While other somatic therapies may incorporate mind-body techniques, the Triple Vagal Method™ specifically focuses on the vagus nerve and its role in regulating the nervous system. TVM™ uses targeted practices that activate the vagus nerve to bring the body into a state of calm and healing. This focus on the vagus nerve makes it particularly effective for addressing trauma, chronic stress, and emotional dysregulation.
TVM™ is beneficial for anyone dealing with emotional and physical stress, trauma, anxiety, or PTSD. It’s especially helpful for individuals who have experienced chronic stress or trauma and find it difficult to regulate their emotions or calm their nervous system. Whether you're looking for relief from everyday stress or healing from past emotional wounds, TVM™ offers a gentle yet effective solution.
Somatic therapy can be beneficial for a wide range of challenges, including:

No prior experience is necessary. Whether you are new to these practices or have experience with other healing modalities, our sessions are tailored to meet you where you are on your journey.
The Triple Vagal Method™ (TVM™) involves stimulating the nervous system to complete trauma cycles, heal dysregulation, and restore safety in the body. We apply gentle pressure to specific body points, targeting fascia (connective tissue) calcification caused by trauma, to facilitate healing and transformation.
During the session, as we engage the vagus nerve, you may experience a resurgence of trapped trauma, which can trigger physical and emotional responses such as shaking, crying, sweating, or even mild psychedelic-like sensations.
Our goal is to help your nervous system process incomplete cycles and build vagal tone, promoting a balanced, calmer state. The first session is typically longer, helping us assess your vagal tone and fascia condition. We’ll begin with an intake form, focusing on your trauma history (this is not a talk therapy session). After explaining the process, we’ll answer any questions and seek your consent to begin.
TVM™ is a hands-on bodywork therapy, and responses vary from person to person. Some clients experience emotional release, others may freeze, while some enter a deeply relaxed state. Sessions usually last 1.5 to 2 hours, with the goal of completing at least two cycles of nervous system activation. Each cycle helps rebuild vagal tone for long-term healing.
The number of sessions depends on your goals and needs. Some clients experience significant shifts in just a few sessions, while others prefer ongoing support for deeper exploration and transformation. We are here to work with you at your own pace.
Yes, TVM™ is a safe, non-invasive therapeutic method. The techniques used are gentle and designed to support your body’s natural healing process. Our trained therapists will ensure that you feel comfortable and supported throughout the session. The focus is always on your safety and emotional well-being.
The time it takes to see results with TVM™ varies from person to person. Many clients report feeling more relaxed and centred after just a few sessions. However, healing from trauma or emotional stress may take longer, and regular sessions can help you build resilience and emotional regulation over time. We work with you at your pace to ensure the best possible outcome.
Yes, TVM™ is highly effective in trauma recovery. By stimulating the vagus nerve and promoting a state of calm, TVM™ helps release stored trauma in the body, allowing for deeper emotional processing and healing. This approach can help you feel more grounded, reduce the effects of past trauma, and regain a sense of safety and control.
Insurance coverage for TVM™ may vary. We recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm whether somatic therapy and vagus nerve stimulation are included under your mental health or wellness coverage. We can provide documentation for you to submit for reimbursement if applicable.
We offer both in-person and virtual sessions, depending on your preference and location. Please contact us to discuss options and availability.
Dress comfortably. No jeans or heavy attire that are not easy to manoeuver with. Please make sure that you are not wearing an underwired bra or a shirt with buttons. Have layers as the body tends to fluctuate in temperature.
Once the session is complete we allow for time to come back, ground, drink water and if you wish to express anything or ask a direct question about the session. It's important to be mindful of output whilst integrating and make sure that you don’t have any big plans after the session.
Supportive practices are journaling, drawing, voice notes to self, spending time in nature, drinking electrolytes, eating nourishing meals and rest. This is trauma work. You may have an array of emotional and physical symptoms that may arise. As with any deep treatment, be gentle with yourself for the next 24/48hrs. We recommend lots of hydration and nourishing meals high in fat. Decrease nervous system stimulus. Sunset sunrise gazing. The work triggers neurological reprogramming where we encourage meditation, solo time, journaling and lots of rest. This is not the time for action- based solutions or feedback to people.
